By Neelam Pandey: Army Public School, Chandimandir celebrated Army Day to salute the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect our country and the people living in it. In honour of the martyred soldiers, a two day function was organized by the school. The inter-school painting competition was held at Rose Garden, Sec-16 , Chandigarh on 14th January and inter-school quiz competition was conducted in the school auditorium on 15th January.
Teams from eleven different schools participated in the painting competition who presented their excellent artistic skills in the beautiful vicinity of the Rose Garden. The patriotic songs presented on the occasion by the students of Army Public School filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervor. The Principal of the school, Mrs. Suman Singh, encouraged the students to join the armed forces and serve the nation. She guided the students about the options available for joining the armed forces and the entrance exams which need to be cleared.
Teams from 12 different schools participated in the quiz competition. There were nine rounds in which students showed their excellent performance. Interesting questions based on Indian Army kept the audience completely involved. It was a stiff contest and the students gave tough competition to each other. In between different rounds, there were a few questions for audience as well which kept them deeply involved as well as interested during the show. The audio-visual round was indeed exciting and was greatly appreciated by the audience. The rapid fire round left everyone amazed as the participants answered questions in quick succession. Team from APS, Ambala won the first position in Quiz followed by the team from Bhavan Vidyalaya which bagged the second position. Team from APS, Chandimandir got the third position.
The Chief Guest on both the occasions was Mrs. Raj Gurdeep Singh, Regional Vice-President, AWWA and other revered members of AWWA. She appreciated the creativity and intelligence of the students and congratulated the school on presenting a wonderful function to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the Indian Army.
