MOHD MAJID MALIK, KISHTWAR : Army claim to have recovered an arms and ammunition from a militant hideout in Athar (Kuntwara) area of Kishtwar District some 6 KM south of district headquarters and close to the vicinity of power house of 390 MW Dool-Hasti power project. As per the details with this reporter , in an operation undertaken by 8 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion today launched search operation in the area based on a tip-off of a possible militant hideout in area and during the search, a natural cave was found in which the arms and ammunition was dumped. During the search, the recoveries made from the hideout include three rocket propelled grenades, 15 grenades including 14 Chinese grenades, five magazines of AK-47, 392 rounds of AK-47 and one hand held radio set, beside other stores including one pouch, one blanket, one Phiren, one woolen cap, one Torch, four pencil cells, two walking sticks along with dry fruits and toffees were also recovered from the said hideout. The seizure had the potential of causing large scale casualties and damage to life and property, sources said, adding that Army had thwarted evil designs of the militants by effecting timely recoveries.
