11 May : Air Chief Marshal FH Major, Chief of the Air Staff visited Headquarters Western Air Command, today. Air Officer Commanding-in- Chief, Western Air Command, Air Marshal PK Barbora received the Air Chief on his arrival at the HQs. The visit also forms a part of his farewell tour to various Command HQs. The Air Chief was presented a ceremonial ‘guard of honour’ on his arrival. He later addressed all air warriors of the Command and interacted with key appointments.
In his address the Air Chief pointed out that despite the continuing technological advancements in the Indian Air Force (IAF), the air warriors remained its greatest assets. He also said that the status of being the fourth largest Air Force in the world has been achieved due to hard work, dedication and valour of the air warriors – past and present. With the required amount of government support in terms of acquisitions, infrastructure build-up and human resources-related welfare measures being implemented, the IAF has a bright future, he added. He reminded that all personnel had a great responsibility to manage the assets and capabilities of the IAF in the changed security scenario. And with the ongoing rapid technological advancements, the IAF must achieve its primary aim, deliver – aerospace power, whenever and wherever required.
