By Jagpreet Sandhu ,Muktsar, 13 January : The sacrosanct Maghi Mela, organized to pay obeisance to 40 ”Muktas”(the redeemed souls) who gave their lives while fighting against the Mughals in the final battle fought by the 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh in the year 1705, began today. As per the legend, the Guru cremated the martyrs himself on the day following Lohri and thus, the day is considered very auspicious.
A large number of companies from different industries are participating in this mela and are showcasing their products for the mela vistiors.
One of the main highlights of the mela is the stall of International Tractors Limited, the flagship company of Hoshiarpur based Rs 5000 crore Sonalika group and manufacturers of renowned Sonalika tractors. The Company is participating in this mela as a mark of respect to the martyrdom of great Muktas.
