By Y.S. RANA,Chandigarh-July 11—A shell-type multiplex, first-of-its-kind in the region, is coming up in Sector 17 of Chandigarh soon. Modalities have been worked out and conditionalities fulfilled. The work has been assigned to An Architects Group for designing the multiplex. Approval has been accorded by the Chandigarh Administration. The mall, spread over an area of 1.145 acres located in the heart of the city. It will stand out from the host of other malls coming up in the area is that it would be made off glass and steel. Everybody would love to splurge here because it will suit to every pocket. The multiplex will be cost around Rs 65 crore.
Influenced by the mall mania and a notification “the setting up of multiplex theatre and conversion of existing cinemas into multiplex theatres Scheme 2004’ of the Chandigarh Administration, M/s K.C. Theatre had decided to go in for construction of “K.C. Mall.”
An Architects Group, which will construct the multiplex said that the retail privileges that one expected to have everything under one roof. Electronic goods, jewelry, readymade garments, gifts, toys, fast food joints, food courts, ice cream parlours, snacks shops and sweet shops all these and more would make up it an ultimate shopping paradise.
The KC Mall has been designed in shell/elliptical shape in compliance with the guidelines of the Chandigarh Administration. The front and rear façade of the building will have four Arcs –top, centre, lower and front.
The total approximate area is 1,04,355.85 square feet and covered area on each floor will be 34228.87 sq feet (ground floor); 26019.24 sq. feet (first floor); 24751.31 sq feet (second floor) and 5050.96 sq feet (upper floor).
As per National Building Code, parking of vehicles is the mandatory requirement. Hence, the provision has been made for underground parking in the form of four basements making space for 361 cars.
Build with glasses and steel, which is a rare feature for any mall in the region, will also be an eco-friendly building.
Corbusier’s (now heritage) city called Chandigarh is a quintessential prototype and the material and building style used here is exclusive ! The new conceptual design of the KC mall will nowhere fit in the classic-setting of chandigarh’s urban scape and will stand out as an odd-piece..
and its gonna be built of glass and steel..how on earth you call it eco-friendly? the amount of energy that goes into manufacturing glass an steel is enormous as compared to brick/concrete(which originally Corbusier has used in Chd) and the internal system will be conditioned by using HVAC’s that create pollution.. how on earth can u proclaim it to be eco friendly. Kindly do proper reaserch before furbishing shuch faux data..bcs the citizenry is not blind..deaf or dumb to embrace such unthoughtful and plagiarist designs.
Thank you !
