By Madhup Yadav , Chandigarh : Every minute, four little girls are killed in their mothers’ wombs because of illegal sex determination by parents and inlaws who do not want a girl child. This is happening even though there is an Act to prevent this. To force the government to enforce the act, a non profit organisation called Population First has set up a campaign, called Laadlil 1 Million Signature Campaign, to unite people who have a good heart and who care about these little laadlis who are being eliminated. Laadli.org wants to take 1 Million Signatures to the Govt. to force them to enforce the Act.
Population First’s Executive Trustee, S.V. Sista said, “The Laadli 1 Million Signature Campaign has been launched because we perceived that the only way to stop the rampant elimination of female fetuses would be to galvanize and unite a critical mass of 1 million motivated individuals to force the government to enforce the law”.
Unit Head of Fame Shalimar, Pankaj Kanotra suggested that “We must adopt a zero tolerance for sex selection. If you know of anyone indulging in it, report to appropriate authorities, and keep the local media informed about all such complaints, so that nobody can escape prompt action.”
“With this initiative, your own individual vigilance and watchfulness will help save many girls and send out a strong message to those who indulge in the crimes of pre-natal gender determination and female foeticide” he said.
We can save the lives of unborn girls… So, pledge your support for the Laadli campaign.
