The origin of the universe and human beings is always been an inquisitive subject for the scientific world. Supporters and opponents have been debating Charles Darwin’s “Theory of Evolution”. This concept considers evolution as a chain of progressive development from amoebas to humans, whereby new species have evolved due to variations in existing species. Accordingly, man and other animals have one and the same origin, and the modern monkey is the closest relative of humans. This theory further upholds that the development of different organs in various species was an automatic ongoing process based on necessity, i.e. one animal changed to another due to some distortions. Time and again, many scientists have professed views contrary to the “Theory of Evolution”. These scientists have raised pertinent questions on the physical, mental, intellectual, and languages developments. The supporters of this theory have given no appropriate answers. In India, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and subsequent scholars have, “Theory of Evolution” as a misconception. However, Darwin’s theory is still upheld as the ideal principle in modern scientific fields.
Dr. Satya Pal Singh, the Indian Minister of State, for Human Resource Development, recently stated that humans are the offspring of human beings, not monkeys. Scientists and scientific institutions joined hands to condemn him. No respectable institution or honorable scholar responded to my various questions put on social media. On the contrary, some sunk into delirium. In fact none accepted the views of any local or foreign scientist or theoretician, that we are the children of human beings.
A brief Vedic Outlook, on the “Theory of Evolution” for the benefit of all is presented below:
In fact, the word ‘evolution’ is very meaningful, but Darwin and his supporters did elaborated the proper meaning, yet support their theoretical views, by calling ‘evolutionary’. If we think seriously about the whole creation, then it becomes clear that the entire creation and every entity have evolved in the form as it is. Without evolution, no atom, molecule, photon and other particles would have existed. Vedic science gives a vivid interpretation of the, ‘Concept of Evolution’ a totally different approach. Darwin’s theory is not evolution but rather a distorted, arbitrary, and illusionary that perplexed scientists but named it evolution.
Evolution is the germination of the seed growing into a plant, thereafter reaching flowering stage and yielding fruits, and new seeds out of the fruits. Today science, considers Quark and Photons to be the basic particle, which is not the original substance. Quark and Photons are the condensed forms of micro-rays that in turn evolve from various other particles. String theorists believe that these particles are made from microscopic ‘strings’ which propagate through space and interact with each other. They are not the basic elements, but they are condensed and developed forms of rays, more fully described by Vedic science. Modern science is now realizing the development of strings, particles and photons. Biologists treat amoeba as the smallest living unit and the chromosomes, genes, D.N.A. as the minutest particle. They are not aware of the fact that the end point of biology is the starting point of physical sciences, and latter’s end point is the starting point of Vedic physical sciences, at the boundaries of which begins, Vedic spiritual sciences. The works of physicists, biologists and other modern scientists researching for solutions and ignoring the Vedic physical and spiritual sciences indeed is an irony. Sadly, we do not find people who are knowledgeable in Vedic physical science. As a result, modern science is engrossed in many problems and while solving one problem various other problems crop up. Each technological invention is accompanied by various adverse side effects. For example, the development of medicinal drugs is negated by resistance to the new formulations and new diseases; the development of appliances to facilitate living are accompanied by new types of pollution and increased criminality. The root cause of these problems is the limitations of modern science and lack of knowledge of Vedic science.
Every fundamental particle or photon in the universe is in fact, as per Vedic science, a smart combination of the infinitesimal rays, which are in turn an amalgam of knowledge (manastattva), time (kaala) and primal matter (prakriti), triggered by the All-controlling, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Formless, All-knowing and Conscious Being, God. The evolution of the present known particles from the infinitesimal element of creation or primal matter a long, systematic and scientific process about which modern scientists have no particular knowledge. The origin of basic particles, photons, stars, planets and their satellites have been amply explained in contemporary Cosmology, Particle Physics, Astrophysics, Quantum field theory, String theory and specialised subjects. It would be inappropriate to discuss here the origin of prime particles and the development of photons up to the construction of stars, planets and satellites. My purpose is to shed light on these substances. Biology is not my subject, but given the conflicting views and on the insistence of some young people, I departed from my core subject of physical science and focused on the origin of vegetation and animal life.
When a planet separates from its star or vice versa, it becomes fiery. Gradually, it cools down into liquid form and with time the water vapor produced gets cold and it rains and water starts filling the earth. Due to the ongoing numerous chemical reactions on that part which remains outside water, oxygen, hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, DNA, RNA, fats, amino acids, proteins, and other elements essential for life are formed. These processes take thousands of years. All these substances fill the earth in form of fluids and gases. These substances are also produced in the wetlands and oceans. These processes create the appropriate environment for unicellular organisms. The smart combinations of different atoms and small molecules to form plant cells is a wonderful and systematic process. It is to be noted that these countless processes are not random, unplanned or uncontrolled acts, rather the smart, orderly and purposeful processes of Creation by God. A thorough observation of cells reveals a systematic and scientific combination of innumerable particles, and each of them is a specific combination of numerous subtle rays (Vedic Rashmi). Thus, the need for an omnipresent conscious power, present everywhere and at all times, without which these systematic processes would have been possible. We wish to draw special attention to the fact that plants were created as the first living organisms only after the formation of water, air, soil, and other life sustaining elements and the conducive environment for their development. Vegetation was the first of living organisms as other living organisms depend directly or indirectly on plants for their survival. Even carnivorous animals have plants as the first elements in their food chain. After the creation of vegetation, unicellular forms of life were created as other living species, thereafter complex creatures (animal life). The sequential creation of species does not mean that from one single specie emerged others; algae did evolve to become Banyan, Peepal, Mango, Acacia and Almond trees. Likewise, amoeba is born in water but no specie whether unicellular or multicellular complex organisms are not chemical combinations of substances. A combination of the subtle conscious element is needed as life in any organism. Contemporary science also recognizes the origin of cells as chemical combinations:
A very important step in the formation of a cell must have been the development of lipid membrane. In order that biological systems can function efficiently, it is essential that the enzymes connected with successive stages of synthesis of biochemical pathways should be in a close a proximity to one another. The necessary conditions for these are obtained in cells by means of lipid membranes which can maintain local high concentration of reactants. The presence of hydrocarbons early in the earth’s history has already been mentioned….
Life requires for its maintenance a continuous supply of energy. This could have been provided by ultraviolet or visible light from the sun, or possibly partly from the breakdown of unstable free radiations produced in the earth’s atmosphere by ultraviolet light. [Cell Biology, page – 474 by E.J. Ambrose & Dorothy M. Easty, London -1973]
This means that the various elements or cofactors vital to sustain life on earth had already been formed by the chemical and other processes. Along with these, the cell walls and body fluids were created, and their continuous nourishment were from essential chemical substances and sunlight. Some scientists believe that life came from some other planet. If life can start on another planet, why not on earth?
In fact, such a theory reveals intellectual immaturity. Currently, some scientists disagree with this assumption. They say:
The view that life did in fact originate on the earth itself after it had cooled over a period of many thousands of years is almost universally accepted today. [Cell Biology, page – 474]
Scientists who affirm about the evolution from amoeba, i.e., one specie is only an evolution from another specie, do not uphold similar changes in plant life. And there is no requirement of such a theory. The myths and double standards on such evolution have already been decried and is to be repeated. Anyone who wants to scrutinize Darwin’s Theory of Evolution should read a book called ‘Vedic Sampatti’ written by Vedic scholar, Pt. Raghunandan Sharma. If Amoeba can develop out of chemical processes, then why not the sperm cells and eggs of various other species? Why amoeba with more than 500 chromosomes and why not monkeys, chimpanzees, orangutans with 48-48 chromosomes? Why not humans with 46 chromosomes, where the sperm and egg cells have only 23-23 chromosomes from men and women? Why the sperm and ovum cells of animals such as Sable antelope and the Reaves Muntjac reindeer with the same number of chromosomes as humans, and the elephant with sperm and ovum cells of 56 chromosomes? Why ants with only 2 chromosomes?
The Vedic principle states that the species needing the fewer number of elements for their maintenance were created first. Plant life was followed by species dependent on plants and thereafter carnivorous creatures. The human form of life is herbivorous; it is the most developed or advanced, and it depends on various other species, plants mainly for food and animals for dairy products, farming, locomotion, etc., and was the last specie in the Creation.
Now the question arises, how is the development of embryos possible without a female? For a while, let us assume that sperm and egg cells were produced in land or water as a result of chemical reactions, but where and how did fertilization occur, and the foetus develop? In his book ‘Satyaarth Prakash’, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati has elaborated on the creation of the human species and affirms that humans were created as youth. He argued that if human life initially started in the form of infants, who would protect and care for them? And, if created as aged persons then no question of having children, the human race would have been extinct! This logic leads to the conclusion that humans were initially born from the land, as youth and in large numbers. Though he did not give any evidence to sustain his view, the hymns of the Rig Veda spells out:
Upa sarpa maataram bhoomimetaamuruvyachasam prithiveem sushevaam |
Oornamradaa yuvatirdakshinaavat eshaa tva paatu nireerterupasthaat || (RV 10.18.10)
The adhibhautika explanation, related to living beings, based on Nirukta, is as follows:
O creatures! At the beginning of the Creation, at the time of giving birth to various species, the expansive earth, as the mother’s womb hosted the numerous embryos; it provided soft, smooth and comfortable cover; the land continued to provide them the nourishment as in continuous pregnancy; and those embryos are safeguarded.
Uchcchavanchasva prithivee ma ni baadathaah soopaayanaasmai bhava supavanchanaa |
Maata putram yathaa sichabhyenama bhooma unurhi || (RV 10.18.11)
As described above, the earth acts as an incubator, similar to the process of gestation where the foetus is carried in the womb, expands vertically upwards. The earth shields and safeguards the embryos and continuously provides them all the essential nutrients as the mother provides all protection to the child in her womb or in her lap.
Uchchhvanchamaanaa prithivee su tisthatu sahasram mita upa hi shrayantaam |
Te grihaso ghritashchuto bhavatu vishvaahaasmai sharanaah santvatra || (RV 10.18.12)
The afore-described soft cover protecting the embryos provide a secure environment for their development. Such development occur at various places and in various numbers. These places are like the cluster of houses for living beings. They hold the developing organisms well-nourished and well-sheltered up to their full youth.
Just as amoeba and other unicellular organisms are formed by the chemical and biological function, the formation of multicellular life-bearing organisms and the sperm and egg cells are formed out of the soft envelope and all the essential substances are present in the various layers of the earth’s surface, like in the womb of the mother. Now let us consider why the mother’s womb is needed for the development of the foetus? The embryo or foetus gets all the necessary nutrients for the growth, as well as the appropriate protective environment which is soft and maintains the required warmth level. If these conditions can be simulated elsewhere, then the development of the embryo will also take place, just as the modern test tube baby.
One point needs further discussion – man or other living organisms, at the time, of creation, were born as young adults. This statement of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati is makes practical sense. If children were born, then who would care of them? And, if elderly people were born then how would they propagate the human race? (Satyarth Prakash, chapter 8). The Vedic Rishis already knew this and further elaborated in Upanishad:
Tasmaachcha devaa bahudhaa sanprasutaah saadhyaa manushyaah… (Mundaka Upanishad 2.1.7)
Eeshvar (God) had created numerous knowledgeable, perfect and saintly people and common scholars.
In his book “Vedic Yug aur Adimanav”, Acharya Vaidyanath Shastri, Vedic scholar quotes Dr. Clarke of the Smithsonian Institution, U.S.A.: “Man appeared able to think walk and defend himself.”
Here, someone may put the question: How did youth grow for some twenty five years. Where is as transitional womb? The Complex but orderly and scientific nature of the creation process, the origin of living organisms as young adults is undeniably a miraculous but feasible wonderful process. And, the conundrum behind the creation of living beings in the form of young adults is not a mystery!
It surprising to note that many generations of European scientists, after Charles Darwin, have rejected the “Theory of Evolution” as incorrect, but it seem that the ghost of Charles Darwin is still riding the minds, especially the western intellectuals. Pt. Raghunandan Sharma in his book “Vedic Sampatti” (V.S).
Sir Oliver Lodge, “We are in the process of evolution; we have arrived in this planet by evolution. That is all right. What is evolution? Unfolding development-unfolding as a bud unfolds into a flower, as an acorn into an oak. Everything is subject to a process of growth, of development, of unfolding. (Science and Religion, Pg16 & V.S, Pg150)”
There is manifest progress in the succession of being on the surface of the earth. This progress consists in an increasing similarity of the living fauna, and among the vertebrates especially mammals to man. But this connection is not the consequence of a direct linkage between the fauna of different ages. There is nothing like parental descent connecting them. The fishes of the Palaeozoic age are in no respect the ancestors of the reptiles of the secondary age, nor does man descend from the mammals which preceded him in the Tertiary age. The link by which they are connected is of a higher and immaterial nature and Himself, whose aim in forming the earth, in allowing it to undergo successively all the different types of animals which have passed away, was to introduce man upon the surface of our globe. Man is the end towards which all the animal-creation has tended from the first appearance of the Palaeozoic fishes. (Principles of Zoology, Pg205-206 by Agassiz & V.S Pg150-151)
How did living creatures begin to be upon the earth? In point of science, we do not know. (Introduction to Science, Pg142 by J.A. Thomson & Vedic Sampatti Pg152)
The question is: what was the manner of their being upon the previously tenantless Earth? Our answer must be that we do not know. (Evolution, Pg. 70 by Prof. Patrick Geddes & V.S Pg 152)
In the November 1922 edition of the newsletter ‘WE’, Jones Bowson reported that Dr. Athridge, Chairman of the British Museum, stated that there is not a single particle in this British museum, which can prove that species evolved from other species. Nine out of ten of the arguments are naught and nonsensical. They are neither genuine nor proven. There is no such thing in the world that support evolution. (V.S. Pg170)
During World War I, the Christian Herald reported that the meeting of the British Science Society was held in Melbourne (Australia), under the Chairmanship of Professor William Watson. In his speech, he said that “Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is totally false and in conflict with science.” Prof. Pratticagadis stated: “For it must be admitted that the factors of the evolution of man partake largely of the nature of the may-be’s which has no permanent position in Science.” That is this war proves the fact that man is what it was previously. (Ideals of Science & Faith & V.S. Pg 212)
Sir J.W. Dasen stated: “Science does not know anything about the intermediate form between monkey and man. The oldest bones of human beings are similar to the present man. They do not provide any information about the evolution and what existed before the human body. “(V.S. Pg170)
Sidney Colette stated: “Science is witness to the fact that, instead of evolving from the reclined stage to a straightened position and thereafter walk is heading on the opposite trend towards a bowed form. Man’s early state was at its best.” (V.S Pg 171)
In the book ‘Vedic Yug aur Adi Manav’, Acharya Vaidyanath Shastri elaborates: “Now a days unhappily Jellyfish produces nothing but Jellyfish. But had that gelatinous morsel been fated to live, say a million of centuries earlier it might have been the progenitor of the race from which Homer and Plato, David and Paul, Shakespeare and our eminent professor have in their order been evolved.” (Conder’s Natural Selection and Natural Theology)
If it could be shown that the thrush was hatched from the lizard. (Conder’s same book)
French philosopher Henri Bergson received the Nobel Prize for his Anti-Darwin Theory. Yet intellectuals fail to understand anything. Learned people may check the views of several scientists on Neo-Darwinism and anti-Darwinism. The views of Indian scientists related in the book “Satyaarthi Bhaaskar” of Vedic scholar, Swami Vidyanand Saraswati:
Botanist of international repute, Dr. Birbal Sahni was asked: “You stated that at the beginning there were unicellular living beings, which evolved into very big creatures; and that in the beginning, there was very little knowledge which gradually progressed to the stage where science stands today. Then, where did life and knowledge come from in the very beginning?” Dr. Sahni replied “We are not concerned as to where from life and knowledge came in the very beginning. We are to take it for granted that there was some life and some knowledge in the beginning of the world and gradually that knowledge progressed, increased.”
These reveal the weak arguments in support of the Theory of Evolution.
I would like all enlightened humans, intellectuals, and inquisitive scientists of the world to study, explore and undertake research on the ancient most books that talk of scientific nature of creation, ‘the Vedas’. The Vedas are revealed divine knowledge. These Vedas talk of, “Vedic Rashmi (rays) which explains this universe far beyond the current physical sciences cannot even think of.”
From the Vedic point of view and that of sages, the first generation of human beings was of the highest order in terms of intellectual, physical and mental force as well as level of Sattva Guna, i.e. merit, virtue and true nature. After that there was a decline or no development of these qualities in the world. We are all human beings in the world, descendants of those great ancestors. ‘The Vedas’ are the books of ancient scientists and researchers, seers and scholars, who dedicated their lives to explore truth, belong to mankind, and all the intelligent beings of the universe. All have equal rights over these scientific research treasures called “the Vedas”. Let us all, use this common heritage ‘the Vedas’, study them and undertake research, and proudly call ourselves the descendants of the most intelligent truth seekers people of the world.
I have only discussed biological evolution, the evaluation of the perceived progressive development of knowledge and language would be the subject matter of a separate article or book. Biological evolution has been briefly analysed. This article may also take the form of a booklet. Readers interested to know more on the development of knowledge and language as well as the wonderful science in the entire universe, are requested to patiently await for my book “Veda Vijnaana Alokah”, a four-volume work, totalling 2800 pages, currently under press. Some enlightened persons may argue: if micro-rays can produce a variety of particles, photons and the universe, then why the evolution of human beings from amoeba is treated as erroneous? I would only reply that the inanimate universe still carries the basic characteristics of micro-rays, and onwards photons and particles formed during the creation process, but those who support the “Theory of Evolution” cannot prove the innate characteristics of amoeba in other organisms. Thus, it would be improper to do such comparisons.
Dear friends! Imagine any person or society who claims to be descendant of animals, what will be the level of intelligence, self-image and self-respect? Refuting Darwin’s Theory of Evolution during a lecture at the University of Lucknow, NASA scientist and former Scientific Advisor to the Indian Prime Minister Prof. O.P. Pandey rightly said that “children all over the country are being taught the wrong doctrine which has a negative effect on them” (Navbharat Times-2 February 2018).
I want to take you out of this inferiority complex and bring you to the most advanced but true realistic thinking, ‘we all are the sons and daughters of one Supreme Creator, Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omni-pervading, Immutable, Omnipotent Eeshvar or God’. This planet, earth is our mother. Hence, this whole world is one family. We are all responsible to bring happiness, strength and bliss to all. We should strive to study science with an open and unbiased mind to explore the truth of our origin.
1.What do you mean by infinitesimal w.r.t rays?
2. Give the direct reference from Veda in support of Vaidik Rashmi theory. Why it is not just a rationalisation in view it is apparently similar to string theory?
