6 Nov :The Centrally sponsored schemes of Ministry of Rural Development are running at satisfactorily. Under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) against the annual target of 21,27,165 dwelling units 5,67,905 units have been constructed till September, 2008.
Under the Swarn Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) against the annual target of 1762670 Swarozgaris assitance was provided to 456610 Swarozgaris during the period being reported upon. Under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), a total of 482642 Mandays (in lakhs) were generated/ works wer completed against the annual target of 9997. Similarly works ongoing (in number)/Works Undertaken stood at 1771621 against the annual target of 1288979 during the period. The National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD),Hyderabad conducted 48 Training Programs up to September, 2008 against the annual target of 320. Similarly, 670 Training Programs were conducted by the State Institutes of Rural Development (SIRDs.)
In order to speed up the pace of various ongoing schemes the Ministry of Rural Development had earmarked Rs.5645.77 crore for Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY), Rs. 1.50 crore for Rural Building Centres/ Innovative Stream of Rural Housing and habitat, Rs.2000 crore for the Swarn Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY), Rs. 19.00 crore for IEC activities, Rs.15939.60 crore for National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), Rs.50 crore for Assistance to Council for Advancement of People’s Action & Technology (CAPART) Rs.24 crore to National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Rs.30.00 crore to Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Area (PURA) and Rs.14,530 for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) till September,2008 during the current financial
