By Roohi Gupta,Punjab:-Today I am not going to talk about domestic violence, poverty, harassment or any other social issues. I want to share my point of view about our Police. Generally, We call them “ PUBLIC SERVANT “. We want them to protect us. We want them to make us feel safe and free. We always want them to be on their duty 24 x 7 for us. But my dear friends, we never try try to have a look into their personal lives. We never think about their emotions and their problems. We never celebrate any festival with them. They also have their personal lives, family and emotions. They also have their families to look after. They also have to play the role of the father, the son and the brother. In the month of festivals, we celeberating with pomp and show. We are having lots of fun with our friends, doing outdoor parties only because of them. Our police never get a chance to enjoy all these moments with their families.
Here I am quoting an emotions not an incident which one of my friend named Devinder Pal who is working with police shared with me. He is well – educated and serving with Punjab Police and doing dual job one is as clerk and the other is as constable. One day, generally we were having discussion about the police. He told me that we always present in the service of the common people.Citizens are able to move freely only because of the police. The presence of the police in public area matters a lot. People celebrate the diwali, dusherra joyfully with their families. If there is any crime taking place in the city, we are the first one who reached there to survey the situation. They do night duties so that people can sleep soundly. We never celebrate , never go for exursions, never have fun with our friends and relatives.
If any girl is rapped, people start blaming us that we are not doing our duties well. They start doubting our images. But they don’t know that we came to the place at one call. They don’t know that the police have to leave his sister’s wedding in half just to catch the criminals. When the terriosim is on the order in the city, the police is ready to die for the people with whom they dnt have any relation. they have to leave unattending his sick child at home. They miss the first word of his new born baby.
If the police is doing their duty in the right manner , then why do we blame them all time? We usually say that our society is not safe anymore. Crime has taken place of safety. We cant walk freely in the nights. But, the police cannot change the situation alone. They need cooperation. We cannot safe our society, family by blaming them. We also have to participate with them equally. They protect us everywhere. But we have bad image of the police in our minds. Why can’t we respect them? They are doing so much for us in return getting no regard. They perform their roles selfless. Still, we say bad words for them. Please take them as your friends. They are not our enemies but our protectors. Our Indian tradition teach us to wish our relatives and dear one. So , please Where ever you meet them just only WISH THEM. Your one wish can make their day. Your one wish can soothe their worried mind. Your one wish can make them feel proud. Your one wish can motivate them. Respect our POLICE who is our well wisher. I want to
