A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, rightly said is the way we must share our time with our neighbors. Today, the core value of society is very nuclear, far from what our forefathers built the foundation of our houses on the basis of a good neighborhood. Good neighborhood practices can bring peace, love and joy in the neighborhood. You can see signs, wonders and miracles that happen between friendly neighbors, making it a safer place to live.
It is recorded in the pages of history that when President Roosevelt signed the, “Good Neighbors Policy” to strengthen the relationships of the countries of Latin America and to create new economic opportunities. Before signing the policy, he carefully examined that every neighborhood indulges in activities of singing and dancing. So, he tied up with one of the most famous singer Carmen Miranda and her band to send out social messages to the people. It is believed that the promotions that she used in her songs, the policy were received tremendous public support.The cultural impact that was initiated by songs of hope and dance program aired on radios and in a film Saludos Amigos by Walt Disney. According to historians such an event was made successful and possible only because of the love people had for the songs Carmen Miranda, which were full of promises of hope.
It is for the first time children and parents in the neighborhood will be treated to witness one of the songs by Carmen Miranda songs which promoted peace, joy, happiness, and prosperity that made successful the peace relations between countries.
All the people in the neighborhood in sector 48, will be gracing the occasion of celebrating the Good Neighbors Day, on the 24th September, at the Kendriya Vihar Community Center, starting 7:00 pm onwards. There will be lots of activities and games to help and develop cordial relationship building in the neighborhood. There will also be the celebration of the founder’s birthday Mast Kabir Khan, age 7, from Mount Carmel School, with his conviction to bring peace amongst children of the neighborhood. The children will be singing and dancing to thematic songs and dances choreographed by Theresa Micheal. The event is promoted by parents and children of Kendriya Vihar, Sector 48, Chandigarh. They believe that events like this will create awareness, build good relationships and promote a safe environment for building their children’s future.
