Dr. Karan Singh Vinayak : International community was a mute spectator when terror attacks, infiltration, and mass exodus, sabotaged peace of valley during early nineties. The state experienced agitations, gruesome killings and unprecedented vicious cycle of violence and instability. It is an open secret that the eruption of violence and dissent in valley was sponsored and supported by our neighboring country. Pakistan uses terror as a hidden state policy to launch a proxy war against India. Unwarranted and unjustified rhetoric’s by separatists along with repeated and unabated attacks on innocents and armed forces were leading to impression that Kashmir problem will never get resolved. From last two decades, our military and paramilitary forces were fighting a lost war against the terrorists, radicalized locals and political apathy. Our soldiers were facing dissent and discontent. They were vulnerable to harsh mobs which were on lynching spree. Many a times, they were booked in retaliating against so called disillusioned stone pelting mobs.
This was a normal scene in the valley, till the Central government repealed the unjustified and illegitimate acts i.e. Article 370 and 35A in the valley which were promoting the pro-terror elements. Military and political strategy of central government has been immensely successful in achieving the target which was looking near impossible. No untoward incident has happened after that which may usurp the harmony of the valley. With the passage of time, all restrictions are being removed in a careful and stepwise manner keeping into account the circumstances and sensitive developments taking place aftermath of the abrogation of the arbitrary legislations. Many political parties, individuals, organizations are raking up the issues of restriction is the valley.
One must know thatpeace always comes at a cost. In due course, overall situation has improved in the valley. Why theso called liberal and intellectual raise did not raised such voices whenwhole valley was bleeding, Kashmiri Pundits were plundered and rendered homeless in their own country. Kashmir was restless and anarchy prevailed for almost 3 decades withlarge scale violenceand terrorismexploiting those narratives todefend and justify their unscrupulous actions.Although Jammu and Kahsmir has been witnessing the most peaceful timein current times. Questioning the intentions and actions of central government in present time when it has successfully countered and controlled the situation looks purely unjustified and uncalled for. In few, months we could hope for a better, prosperous, and progressive Kashmir. Meanwhile, we must stand by our forces and not condemn them and government just for the sake of criticism and vested- political interests.
