By : Pardeep Luthra,Batala Sep 2 : Come Marriage anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the demand of chaplets increases manifold in this historic and industrial town, which falls on coming Sunday as the market was flooded with chaplets.
It was fairy tale that devotees offer chaplets to Guru Granth Sahib installed in the Gurudwara Kandh Sahib to seek the blessings of Guru Nanak Dev to get marry their wards during the marriage anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. The Gurudwara Kandh sahib was constructed in the sacred memory of Guru Nanak Dev where his marriage was solemnized as Guru was married to Bibi Sulakhani, a resident of this town in 1487.
The devotees from different parts of the country and abroad congregated here during the marriage anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev (Popularly known as Babe da viah) , founder of Sikhism to attend the religious function who seek blessings while tying chaplets with the palki (palanquin) .
Surjit Singh, a resident of Bhangali village told that his family had come to Gurdwara Sahib a few years ago and he wished for marriage of his daughter which was fulfilled and all family members have come to tie chaplet here.
Another devotee Mrs. Saroj who come here to seek blessing of marriage for her son told that his son was engaged several time but vein and she tying the chaplet for his marriage.
Kulwant Singh, manager , Gurudwara Kandh Sahib told that tying of chaplet continue whole the year but increases in these days as it is very sacred gurudwara because Guru Nanak Dev got marry here where people offer chaplets.
Meanwhile, Shopkeeper Satish Mahajan said that people often come to his shop to purchase chaplets but in these days their demand of purchase the chaplets picked up.
