Dr. Karan Singh Vinayak : In current times plastic has occupied us and made us inevitably dependent on it by making many of our micro and macro tasks convenient. By the time, plastic has overpowered us and made us dependent with respect to various different means.
One must know that plastic certainly took thousands of years to decompose and disappear. Burning of plastic cause excessive air pollution. While dumping into ground leads to soil degradation and plastic acts as a blockage to replenishment of ground water. Presently one could witness huge heaps of plastic everywhere in villages, town and city outskirts. Its penetration into our ecosystem leading to water, food and ground water contamination will have huge implications on our health.
Scientists and environmentalists have already indicated that plastics have indirectly entered our food cyclevia.polluted air, water bodies, soil and surrounding environment. Central government deserves applause for implementing stricter norms and stringent penalties for utilizing single use plastic. Such laws can yield results only if we all support and co-operate with the government to get rid of today’s biggest environment evil called plastic. We must spread the message to shun the single use plastic in our daily life.
The plastics and other items should be collected and disposed in an appropriate way. The mankind ought to resist the plastic usage for the sake of environment and our future generations. An indigenous mass movement is necessarily required to save our only home planet earth, its mountains, rivers, natural resources which are being precariously polluted by different forms of plastic at highly dangerous levels.
