The India Post, Chandigarh 9th January, 2009 :Dr Praveen K. Jain is a leading Critical Care expert based in Mumbai. He is associated with top hospitals in Mumbai such as Sir H.N. Hospital, Wockhardt Hospital, Saifee Hospital, S.R. Mehta Cardiac Institute and BSES-Global Hospital. Dr Jain is the recipient of the "Claris International Critical Care Achievement Award" for 2007. Dr Jain is a pioneer in the field of Critical Care medicine in India. He has been the Founder President of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine. He is currently the Chairman of the Critical Care Education Foundation and the College of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr P.K. Jain has been the founder editor of the Indian Journal of Critical Care Medicine and Critical Care Asia and is on the editorial board of many national and international medical journals. Dr Jain is an expert in setting up of and management of high quality Intensive Care Units. He has set up the ICU at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai and was the Chief of ICU there for many years. He also has set up ICUs at Sir H.N. Hospital (Mumbai), Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (Calicut), and Phenomenal Hospital (Latur). Dr Jain is advisor to many major ICUs across the country including the 170 bedded ICU at Amrita Hospital (Cochin).
He is currently associated with training of ICU doctors at Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula, which is one of the 52 hospitals in the country where the ICU is certified as a training centre for the 2 year Indo-Australian Fellowship examination (the only ICU north of Delhi). This recognition by the College of Critical Care Medicine, not only acknowledges availability of good ICU equipments but availability of good ICU trained physicians round-the-clock at Alchemist Hospital.
