When I was born everyone cursed me
When I grow young everyone restricted me
When I was married everyone beat me
But in all the phases I was left alone
IN all phases I was a slave under men
When I was about to die
Then I realised I was born in India
Who is ‘I’ in the above lines? A girl. We are in 21st century and have adopted almost all the ways of western culture but when it comes to respect a girl, a woman we always lack behind. Why is it happening till now? Why is the sex ratio still unbalanced? Why are most of the girls still uneducated? Don’t they have a right to learn, right to grow, right to smile, right to enjoy freedom and right to live? From birth till death girls are under men. Firstly under father then brother then husband and then son. Where is the identity and respect of a girl? Yes its somewhere in the sand which will never be found.
In India most of the girls are still fighting for their rights, crying for their education and suffering from pain of being burnt alive. In most of the villages female foeticide is still practised. If girl child is born she is murdered or thrown in some corner of the house. Mostly girls are married before their puberty with huge dowry. Government has strictly banned sex determination, child marriage, dowry system but still all this is happening. It is so because the psychic of Indians can never change. They all are born with the thought that woman are weak. They won’t accept the fact that woman are no less than men. Indira Gandhi, Kalpana Chawala are the history of India . Sania Mirza, Barkha Dutt, Aishwarya Rai are shining stars of present India .
Many serials telecast on television ‘Agle janam mujhe betiyan hi kijiye’, ‘Na aana is des meri laado’ and ‘Balika Vadhu’ show the reality about what a girl suffers in her whole life. Most of the Indians are watching these daily soaps; they all have sympathy with Lalia, Sia and Anandi. But no one makes an effort to protect girls from this exploitation. Woman need the support of their parents to grow, they should also be given a chance to prove themselves. They will be the only one who will make you proud. Don’t forget “A son is a son till he gets a wife but a daughter is a daughter throughout her life.”
All the brutal fathers who kill their girl child should remember “Where would they have been if their mothers had not been allowed to live.” in spite of the presence of charitable schools parents don’t allow especially their girl child to explore the beautiful world of education- knowledge. The talents of girls are usually suppressed by parents and the society. What if they have more talent than men, what if they will be more educated than men, what if they are earning more than men? It won’t make the difference it will be a matter of pride for our nation.
Girls are full of love, they also need love. Laws should not be made to exist in registers only. The guilty involved in exploitation of girls should be dealt with harshly. We the people should not be silent witnesses. We should be part of eradicating this evil act. We are killing our ‘Laxmi’ Goddess. It’s not just a crime it’s an unpardonable sin.

In India the people only worship Female in the Guises of Goddesses- DEVIAN in idols & and in normal life they do otherwise, considering them only source of sexual pleasures only & rather go to the extent of raping them.
I some times is compelled to think that if our DEVIANS & or Female Gaddeses have the power, why do not they punish such people, who do not respect females in real life?—dr.amritgaur
