Building Bridge Between India and GlobeDr. Avnish Jolly, Chandigarh, 30th June, 2008:Amar Singh Bhullar, Editor in Chief and Publisher of Hamdard Weekly and Quomantry Pardesi, Brampton was recently honoured by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Punjabi University, Patiala, India last month.
Mr.Bhullar was the guest of honour at a seminar on "Punjabi Journalism Abroad" organized by the university in this function. Mr.Bhullar’s talent and hard work has gained popular recognition in the evening e-newspaper industry in recent years.
Hailing from his native village Banbhaura Dist. Sangrur, Punjab, India Mr. Bhullar stressed that Government of India should rethink their strategy to rectify the list of black listed Indians so that they may visit their motherland and contribute for its development generously.
Mr.Bhullar established Hamdard Weekly, a Punjabi newspaper, in 1990. The newspaper is published in five different editions – Brampton, Vancouver, New York, California and Chandigarh, India (with the largest circulation of 150,000). Quomantry Pardesi, a Punjabi monthly magazine established in 1997, is distributed in 65 countries and has a readership of more than 10,000,000."Punjabi journalism has developed greatly in foreign countries, particularly in Canada.
Punjabis in Canada are keen to know about the news of Punjab just as Punjabis in India are keen to know about the happenings in Canada,” said Bhullar.
