Amritsar, October 10 : On the second day of ongoing ‘A’ Zone Youth Festival of the Guru Nanak Dev University, folk orchestra competition was the main attraction of the festival. The Flute, Matka, Gagar, Dhol, Nagara, Chimta, Dhapli, Iktara, Algoje, Dholki, Chankana, Been, Tumbi, Sarangi, Kanto and Dagga like rare folk instruments which are rarely available were played by the competitors to gain the maximum attention of judges.
The completions were started under the supervision of Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare Department. More than, 600 students-artists from affiliated colleges of Amritsar Districts are participating in 28 items of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts. This festival would be concluded on October 12. The competitions of Mimicry, Mime, Elocution, Poetical Symposium, Debate, Folk Song and Geet/Gazal were among the other items of the competition.
Tomorrow, i.e. October 11, the competitions of One Act Play, Fancy Dress, Skit, Group Dance, Rangoli, Fulkari Making, Quiz Preliminary, Classical Instrumental (Percussion), Classical Instrumental (Non-Percussion) and Classical Vocal would be held.
The competitions would be concluded on October 12 with Western Vocal, Group Song (Western) and Gidha.
