By Anuj Bhalla,chandigarh, March 13,2012 : The city art lovers will be delighted to know that they will have four days of classical music and dance in the forthcoming 42nd Pracheen Kala Kendra Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan. Commencing on March 15, the four-day cultural extravaganza will conclude on March 18. The Sammelan will be held at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh at 6:30 p.m. daily.
The Chairman and members of the Executive Board will inaugurate the festival while Shri K.K. Sharma, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh Administration, Shri V.K. Singh, IAS, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh Administration and Shri T.S. Randhawa, IAS, Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Culture, Government of India will be the Chief Guest on March 16, 17 and 18 respectively.
The Sammelan is one of the oldest music and dance festivals of its kind in this part of the country are organized uninterruptedly every year since 1969. Almost all contemporary performing artists have participated in this Sammelan at one occasion or the other. There will be many young artists who will perform during the sammelan.
Pracheen Kala Kendra will maintain their tradition of featuring internationally acclaimed legends in respective art realm. Leading the pack is Sanjeev Abhaynkar and Purbayan Chatterjee are scheduled to open the inaugural evening with their Vocal-Sitar Jugalbandi. Greats like Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumder, Guru Shobha Koser, GS Rajan, Ranjana Gauhar & Troupe, Vidushi Kalapini Komkal, Dakshina Vaidyanathan & Amrit Sinha will be the attraction of the days to follow.
