Gurdaspur May 7:-Guns have fallen silent on both the sides on the Inter National of Indo-Pak border here. Now the sickles and combines are moving in silent hushes. And making most of the fragile peace, farmers have started reaping the harvest of wheat under the cover of arms and ammunition of the Border Security Force.
After having taking part in the parliament election, the farmers of border areas were busy in harvesting their wheat crop with the help of BSF whose crop falling across the fencing wire. The BSF is proving them full security and extending their help. The BSF personnel can been seen standing on the combines .The BSF has pressed dog squad in to service to prevent any untoward incident and to check the drug menace on the border from across the border.
Brig N K Mishra DIG BSF told that there are at least 4360 acres of agriculture land beyond the barbed fencing in Pahtankot, Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts where the farmers have sow their wheat crop and farmers had harvest 70 per cent of their crop. The BSF have extended its full support to the border farmers.
The BSF woman personnel were also helping the women labor who were engaged by the farmers to harvest the wheat.
