14 Aug : Series of six workshops on “HIV/AIDS and ART training for Nurses” under Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) was organised at National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh from 20th April – 14th August, 2010. Solan, October 28 : Established under the Ministry of Defence 84 years ago, the Rashtriya Military School, Chail, is gearing up to celebrate its annual day on October 29. Being the oldest military schools of Asia it is an A category institute established in 1925 by King George V of England.

24 Aug : Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy has said that his Ministry is targeting a capacity addition of at least 1000 MW from Himachal Pradesh in next five years. In a meeting with the Chief Minister, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, in Shimla today, Dr. Farooq Abdullah pointed out that the State has a huge potential to generate energy through Small Hydro Projects, a resource which should not be left untapped when the country is facing acute power shortage.

20th August 2009 : A little more than two years ago, in June 2007, Solan’s Nalagarh tehsil saw a massive protest against a 25 MW Thermal Power Plant to be set up by Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JP). The Public Hearing for the project was boycotted and stalled by a huge gathering of 12 affected Panchayats who were concerned about the large scale of pollution that the project would cause.
