His Majesty grants audience to the new and outgoing IMTRAT Commandants

December 31: His Majesty the King granted an audience and hosted a luncheon to the new and outgoing IMTRAT Commanders at the Dechencholing palace yesterday.
The new Commander Major General Vijay Kumar Pillai is a recipient of the Sena Medal. He was commissioned into the Rajput regiment on 12 May, 1974. He has held important command, staff and instructional assignments at all levels in army.

The general officer has acquired M.Sc in Defence studies and M. Phil from Madras University.

Noted journalist Prabhash Joshi dies

6 Nov : Noted journalist Prabhash Joshi died of a heart attack in New Delhi last night. He was 72. He was admitted to a private hospital after he complained of chest pain at 11.30 pm where doctors declared him dead, family sources said.

He is survived by wife Usha Joshi, two sons — Sandeep and Sopan — daughter Sonal and mother Leela Bai.Joshi, who began his career with Nayi Duniya, was the founder editor of leading Hindi daily “Jansatta” in 1983.

30 Aug : The Common Admission Test (CAT), which is being conducted through computers for the first time, will be held over a period of ten days from 28th November this year, an official notification said.
The CAT is being held through computers and the IIMs have hired a US-based firm to conduct the competitive exam across the country for candidates seeking admission to the prestigious B-schools.
The test will be conducted at 30 centres including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, New Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Guwahati, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad, it said.
