LUDHIANA, DEC 1 : Suman of Jalandhar won the gold medal in 44 kg class class with a lift of 76 kg in the weightlifting competitions of the Punjab Inter-School Under-16 Tournament for boys and girls which got off to a colourful start at the Guru Nanak Stadium here today.
Parneet Kaur of Ludhiana and Inderjeet Kaur of Ludhiana got silver and bronze with 73 kg and 71 kg, respectively.Earlier, Parliamentary Secretary, Local Government, Punjab, Harish Raj Dhanda inaugurated the tournament which is being conducted by the Punjab Sports Departent. Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the efforts of the Punjab Sports Department to encourage sports among the school children. Mr Dhanda advised the players to refrain themselves from drug abuse.
