Chandigarh June 29:Former MLA from Bahadurgarh Nafe Singh Rathi has been unanimously elected president of Haryana State Athletic Association in the annual general body meeting of the association held at Jat Bhawan here on Sunday. Khel Ratna Abhey Singh Chautala, President HSAA, was unanimously elevated to the post of life president.
H S Bhadu was unanimously reelected Secretary of the HSAA for the sixth time in succession. The other office bearers who were also unanimously elected for the next term of four years were: Gokal Chand(Sr. vice president), I D Kamboj, Jagmal Singh,Dharamvir Dagar, Dilbagh Singh, Rajinder Malik, Devender Kadyan (Vice Presidents),Raj Kumar Mittan (Sr. Joint Secretary), Vinesh Mahlan & Chander Pal Chauhan (Joint Secretaries), S S Bura (Treasurer) and Duli Chand, Ajmer Singh, Satpal Singh, Shish Pal Guladi, Ved Prakash, G S Bawa, Sanjay Singh, Azad Singh Rathi,Sumer Singh, Rajiv Khatri, Parveen Kumar (Members Executive Committee).
In the meeting three affiliated units of HSAA Haryana Police, HAU Hisar, MNSS Rai have been disaffiliated due to not paying the annual subscription for the last three years, not responding to the HSAA communications and not taking part in the State meets and trials conducted by the HSAA.
Out of 25 units , secretaries and presidents/authorized representatives of 20 affiliated units attended the AGM. Ravinder Chaudhary Secretary, Chandigarh Athletic Association was deputed as observer by the Athletic Federation of India. Dr. Narender Singh Mor , Secretary, Haryana State Karate Association was the observer of Haryana Olympic Association.
The house also approved the calendar for 2008-09. The next State Senior Championship will be conducted at Sonipat from 2-4 Oct 2008 along with the State Games. The Junior State Athletic Championship will be held at Gurgaon in the second week of September 2008. The State Cross Country Championship will be held at Bahadurgarh on 19th January 2009.
The house also adopted and approved the budget of Rs.12.5 lacs for 2008-09. With the view to containing the menace of fielding over age players the association has decided to deal with an iron hand. A disciplinary committee, with S S Bura, has been constituted to deal with this and other disciplinary problems.
