Chandigarh : Minerva sharks won the Chandigarh champions league-2, at the international cricket stadium, sector 16 Chandigarh.
The Minerva sharks thrashed the warrior pirates by 35 runs to lift the trophy. The match was held amid fanfare and star presence along with a live dj. The prizes were given away by bollywood star celebrity Mahie Gill and Ex International cricketer turned actor Yograj Singh and local MP, Pawan Kumar bansal. The winners walked away with a handsome trophy and 51,000 rupees cash prize.
Minerva sharks won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 94 runs in their allotted 12 overs. Karan top scored for Minerva with 25 runs. Chasing this target warrior pirates found it difficult to get off to a good start thanks to some very tight bowling by the Minerva sharks. The most remarkable part of the match was the bowling performance by Minerva. They were poised in their approach and kept the ball full which gave no chance to the batsmen to accelerate the scoring at any time. Warrior pirates required 56 runs of the last 3 overs but it was too late for them. Kuldip Singh Jonty was awarded the man of the math as he picked up 3 wickets and scored a quick fire 16 runs. Ashish Rana got both the maximum sixes and man of the series award.
