CHANDIGARH, AUG 23 : Punjab Cricket Association Vice President and senior Punjab IAS officer, 56-year-old DP Reddy today assumed the charge as PCA president. Reddy is Financial Commissioner, Excise and Taxation Department in the Punjab Government
His appointment was made as 70-year-old Mr Inderjit Singh Bindra had expressed his inability to discharge the day-to-day responsibilities of the PCA affairs and his inability to attend to the administrative works of the association especially in view of the works relating to upcoming new PCA Stadium at Mullanpur (New Chandigarh).
Mr Bindra, who served as an able cricket administrator for 36 years, had requested the Executive Committee to make alternate arrangements to discharge the duties of the President.
The Executive Committee, which met at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, placed on record its immense appreciation for the works done by Mr. I.S.Bindra and unanimously decided to appoint Mr. D.P.Reddy to discharge the duties of the President.
The Executive Committee also discussed the proposal of the Honorary Secretary MP Pandove to summon the Extra Ordinary General Body Meeting to make relevant amendments, in tune with time, to the Memorandum and Articles of the association and authorized the Honorary Secretary to call the Extra Ordinary General Body Meeting at an appropriate time.
