CHANDIGARH, APRIL 14 : Shoaib Khan’s brilliant knock of 51 runs in 70 balls with four boundaries helped Mumbai Champion Al defeat DAV Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh by 34 runs in the Inter-State Challenge Boys Under-16 Coca-Cola Cricket Cup at the Hindu Gymkhana in Mumbai today.
Winning the toss, Mumbai Champion Al. Barkat Malik M. I. English School elected to bat first. Al. Barkat Malik M. I. English School were all out for an impressive total of 235 in 43.5 overs. Shoaib Khan was the highest scorer with 51 runs. Amaan Faroque scored 49 in 52 balls with six fours and Mohd. Monis made 46 in 52 balls with three fours. Hardeep Singh and Amrit Lubana from DAV Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh took two wickets each.
In reply, DAV Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh were bowled out for 201 runs in 42 overs. Ankit Naresh was the highest scorer with 50 runs in 52 balls and he was well supported by his team mates Shivam Sharma (43).
For Al. Barkat Malik M. I. English School Arsalan Khan, Shoaib Khan and Jahangir Ansari took two wickets. Chandigarh School felt short by 34 runs.
In another match, Sports College, Lucknow beat AVR E Techno School, Vijayawada by a huge margin of 230 runs. While batting first Sports College, Lucknow scored 315 for three wickets in 45 overs and they bowled out AVR E Techno School, Vijayawada for 85 runs in 33.5 overs. While, Kiddys Corner Higher Secondary School, Gwalior (MP) defeated St. Johns Jr. College, Hyderabad by 63 runs.
In another match of the day, Salwan Boys Senior Sec. School, Delhi defeated Shreyas Samarpan Vidyalay, Baroda by 106 runs.
