Bhopal:April 2, 2008:As much as 92 thousand tonnes of wheat has been procured on support price from farmers so far in Madhya Pradesh. The arrival of wheat in mandis is increasing constantly and the Food and Civil Supplies Corporation and other agencies would achieve the target of procuring 10 lakh tonnes of wheat this month. This was informed at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan at his office in the Mantralaya to review the progress of wheat procurement here today.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure full and timely payment to farmers and to make arrangements for Hussein bags as per requirement at the procurement centres. Shri Chouhan also directed to ensure availability of adequate funds for payment to the farmers.It may be mentioned here that the state government is providing a bonus of Rs. 100 per quintal on procurement of wheat at support price of Rs. 1000 per quintal.
The meeting was informed that the 83 thousand 79 tonnes of wheat has been procured through the centres of Civil Supplies Corporation, 3 thousand 792 tonne by Food Corporation of India, 1 thousand 233 tonne by Markfed and 648 tonne by Nafed. The procurement is continuing. The Chief Secretary Shri R.C. Sahni and other senior officers attended the meeting.
