Delhi, April 18, 2014: His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, Head of the Sant Nirankari Mission, inaugurated here today a unique training institution named Nirankari Vocational Centre in the Sant Nirankari Public School, Nirankari Colony. Managed, controlled and financed by the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, the Centre will provide several training courses to men and women of various age groups, with academic support from specialized agencies in the fields concerned. The minimum educational qualification for joining these training courses will be Matriculation or its equivalent.
Blessing the gathering on this historic occasion, His Holiness said that it is a great step forward to empower the youth and other needy people to stand on their own feet and meet the challenges of the modern world of competition. He said that here the students will also learn the art of living based on human values of love and humility so that they become civilized human beings and lead a virtuous life.
Earlier, explaining the details of the courses being offered by the Centre, Brig (Retd) P.S. Cheema, Member Incharge Health and Social Welfare as also a Member of the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation said, to begin with the Centre is starting from today its first professional course in Basic Information Technology for six months. Academic support, including training, examination and certificates will be provided by National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT). The trainees will be divided in various groups who will attend classes between 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. thrice a week, i.e. on every alternate day with Sunday as closed.
Each participant will be required to pay Rs.1500/- only for the entire duration of the training course. This will cover the course material and books etc. This will go a long way to help the trainees who normally find the cost of NIIT courses beyond their reach.
Brig Cheema said that subsequently NIIT will provide four other courses: Desk Top Publishing (DTP), Web Designing, Net Working and Computer Hardware.
The Foundation is also taking the help of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to provide courses to provide skill development in some technical skill streams. These include: Banking (Banking Financial Services and Insurance), Information Technology (Software), Retail Salesmanship, Security, Gems and Jewellery, Hospitality Management and Customer Relationship Management (Call Centre).
Initially, Nirankari Vocational Centre is starting with two courses – one in Banking Financial Services and Insurance and the other in Information Technology with a duration of two months each. The Centre will charge a nominal amount of Rs.1000/- each from the trainees for the entire course which will be refunded on successful completion of the course.
The package in both the courses will include a free training for personality development which will help the trainees in getting into jobs successfully. This will cover the knowledge of disciplines including English Speaking, Communication Skills, Personality Grooming, the Art of Interview, and CV writing (Profile).
The Centre will provide the certificate for this course having a duration of 4 months (2 sessions of 2 hours each every week). The first such course will commence from May 1, 2014.
