Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed has sent early greetings to Punjabi communities world over for upcoming Lohri.
Zed, who is Chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, in a release in Nevada (USA) today, expressed warmest greetings on Lohri, wishing that it brought joy, happiness, blessings and cheer to all.
World should learn from the spirit of Lohri festival, during which everybody, irrespective of his/her background, takes part in the festivities and shares the joy, Rajan Zed adds.
After the sunset on Lohri day, families-friends-neighbors gather around bonfire eating rewri-gachchak-moongphali-etc., sharing stories, and singing and dancing on dhol/dholki beat. During day, children visit neighborhood homes singing Dulla Bhatti and other folk songs and are presented with goodies. Celebrations are at a higher pitch in families where a marriage or childbirth recently happened. Dinner usually includes sarhon-da-saag and makki-di-roti with a liberal serving of makkhan.
