1 Oct :Mr. Shri Prakash took over as new Member Traffic, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to Government of India, here yesterday. Mr. Shri Prakash took charge from Shri V.N. Mathur who retired yesterday. Prior to joining as Member Traffic, Railway Board Mr. Shri Prakash was General Manager of Northern Railway. Born on 28th December 1949, Mr. Shri Prakash is a Post Graduate in Mathematics with MBA. He joined Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1972.
A distinguished officer of varied experience, Mr. Shri Prakash held various key positions in different Zonal Railways and Railway Board. He has worked as Divisional Railway Manager of Dhanbad Division on the erstwhile Eastern Railway (now East Central Railway). In the Railway Board, he held the posts of Executive Director Tourism Transportation (M)), Executive Director (Statistics & Economics) as well as Executive Director and Team Leader of Project for development of Long Range Decision Support System. Before assuming the charge of General Manager Northern Railway, he was holding the post of Adviser (Infrastructure), Railway Board. He is a Visiting Senior Fellow to the Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI), New Delhi.
He has rich experience in working on different Departments and his specialization includes Operations, Planning, Information Technology, Safety besides General Management.
