Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has approved proposals for three railway projects that are expected to improve rail connectivity to coal fields that supply fuel to power plants, as well as port connectivity.
The rail links approved are the 121 km Gevra road-Pendra road and the 63km Raigarh (Mand colliery)-Bhupdeopur stretches in Chhattisgarh, railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said at a press briefing on Thursday.
Both these projects are part of the Indian Railways’ ambitious project aimed at improving freight movement.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal for doubling the 247 km-long Palanpur-Samakhiali link to improve rail connectivity for bulk traffic movement from Kandla and Mundra port in the Kutch area of Gujarat.
