Archit Watts,  Chandigarh, August 12 : On the occasion of this Independence Day, August 15, UT administrator SF Rodrigues will inaugurate the ‘Flats under Slum Rehabilitation Scheme’ by which 320-odd slum dwellers will get freedom from slum-dwelling.
These people will finally enter their dream houses, constructed by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) under a scheme floated for slum rehabilitation in Sector 38 (West).
Each flat has a covered area of 425 square feet with accommodation of one room, kitchen, bath, WC and verandah.

Dr. Naresh of Panjab University will get Maulana Altaf Husain Hali award on August 19

Archit Watts ,Chandigarh, August 12 : A former fellow and professor of modern literature at Panjab University, Dr. Naresh, for his contribution to the Urdu literature, has been selected by the Haryana Wakf Board for the prestigious Maulana Altaf Husain Hali Award to be held in Ambala on August 19.

Dr. Naresh, a celebrated poet and writer, has authored about 70 books and has already received many state, national and international awards.

12 Aug : We have made arrangements for screening of the patients with upper respiratory tract symptoms at 3 areas. In the emergency OPD (outside the gate), in the New OPD block (at the entrance) and in paediatrics OPD (on the 2nd floor). The suspected patients are sent to the communicable disease ward on the 3rd floor in radiotherapy wing of the Nehru Hospital for sample collections. The samples are being sent to NICD New Delhi for processing and the reports are available in 48 hours (due to heavy rush). …

Delhi Metro train derails; no one injured

12 Aug :  Thirty-nine passengers had a miraculous escape when a Delhi Metro train jumped tracks in the national capital Wednesday afternoon.
The accident, first of its kind in the Metro’s history, came exactly a month after six persons were killed in an accident at its construction site in south Delhi’s Zamrudpur area.
No one was injured in the mishap which took place at Dwarka station in south-west Delhi at around 3:20 pm.

Lack of identity proof results in denial of benefit to poor: PM

12 Aug : Attaching high priority to Unique Identification project, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said lack of identity proof results in harassment and denial of services to the poor and led to leakages in various government programmes.

Swine flu toll touches 17; Schools, colleges shut in Mumbai
