In the PIL No 1061/2013 filed by Social activist, Nutan Thakur the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow bench today directed the State Government to file its reply within two weeks. The PIL has been filed challenging the appointment of K C Pandey, Narendra Bhati and many others appointed by the State Government to different State Commissions, Councils etc. The bench of Justice Uma Nath Singh and Justice V K Dixit directed the reply to be filed by a Secretary level officer of the State government.
Thakur has said that presently there are no definite rules and eligibility criteria as regards most of these posts. Their appointment process is extremely opaque resulting in political patronage. It has immense possibilities of criminals and anti-national elements occupying these extremely important posts. Recent examples of Natwar Goel of Khadi Board and K C Pandey of Ganna Sansthan prove this.
Hence, Thakur has prayed for specific qualifications and transparent process for these appointments. She has prayed for police verification before appointment. She has also prayed for inquiry into allegations against K C Pandey about cattle trafficking gang and offering of bribe money to SP Gonda.
Asok Pande is her counsel in this case.
