Social activist, Dr Nutan Thakur today filed a Writ Petition in the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow bench as regards the serious allegations made against Dr Zakir Hussain Trust managed by Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid and his wife Dr Louise Khurshid. In the Petition, other than the government functionaries, she has also made “Aaj Tak” which relayed Operation Dhritarashtra and Dr Zakir Hussain Trust as the respondents.
Thakur has prayed that the various discrepancies and irregularities in the distribution of equipments to the handicapped persons and forged signatures have already been verified as per an enquiry report of Vikalang Directorate, UP Government dated 12 January 2012. Even the CAG in its audit report related with the Ministry of Social Justice has found many irregularities in the implementation of Rs. 71 lakh fund by Dr Zakir Hussain Trust. J B Singh, presently Registrar, Lucknow University and then CDO Mainpuri has also categorically denied having signed the alleged Affidavit in favour of the Trust.
In such circumstances, the only appropriate course of action for the UP Government and the Economic Offences Department (EOW), UP that has been entrusted the enquiry in this matter on 3 July 2012, shall be to get an FIR registered in this matter and to investigate it as per law.
Thakur has prayed before the High Court to direct the Home Department and EOW to get an FIR registered in this matter and to investigate it. She has also prayed that the High Court monitors the investigation because the accused persons are highly influential.
Asok Pande is her counsel in this case. The Petition is expected to come on hearing on 17 October 2012.
