Foreign tourists stranded The Centre has constituted an inter-Ministerial team to visit Sikkim to take stock of the damage following Sunday’s devastating earthquake amid fresh reports that 400 foreign tourists were stranded in worst-hit North Sikkim. Meanwile, the number of deaths as reported by the Sikkim government is 57.The number of casualties, says an official, may increase further as rescue operation has been hit by inclement weather. ITBP camp and Army camps are giving shelter to the people. More than 5,000 Army personnel have been deployed for rescue and relief operation.
Food packets have been airdropped in the northern part of the North district at Myang, said an official. The Border Roads Organization and Army Engineers are Making efforts to construct the roads to help speed up rescue operation.
