27 May:Train and bus services continued to be badly affected for the fourth consecutive day today in the wake of violent agitation by the Gujjar community in Rajasthan. Northern Railway today cancelled as many as 10 trains, mostly originating from Delhi, in the interest of passengers’ safety following the ongoing violent agitation at different places in Rajasthan, a Railway official said.
The trains that were cancelled are August Kranti Express, Nimach Link Express, Nizamuddin-Udaipur Intercity, Nizamuddin-Indore Intercity, Janta Express, Nizamuddin-Kota Jan Shatabdi Express and Gujarat Sampark Kranti.
Bandra-Nizamuddin, Maharashtra Sampark Kranti, Muzaffarpur-Bandra Avadh Express and Ahmedabad-Asansol Parasanath Express were also cancelled today.
Service of these trains has been stopped due to the agitation by Gujjar Samaj Mahapanchayat Samiti and largescale public disturbance between Gangapur City-Bayana section in Kota Division, a Northern Railway statement said.
The bus service to Jaipur, Bharatpur and other places in the state remained unaffected but the services to Alwar and Tizara were badly affected.
"Bus service to Alwar and Tizara remained affected for the third consecutive day in the wake of ongoing agitation by the Gujjar community," a Rajasthan Transport official said.
The main motive behind suspension of rail traffic in the area was to prevent further damage to railway property.
