MOGA, February 2: Punjab Congress today presented a completely united face as the party candidate for the Moga byelection Vijay Sathi filed his nomination papers in the local Mini Secretariat. He was accompanied by senior party leaders, legislators and former ministers as he went to file his nomination papers here today.
Sathi was accompanied by Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh, Congress Working Committee member Jagmeet Singh Brar, AICC secretary Dr Vijay Lakshmi Sadho, Congress Legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar, former Chief Minister Ms Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Gurdaspur MP Partap Bajwa, Punjab Youth Congress president Vikram Chaudhary, Punjab Mahila Congress president Malti Thapar and other party leaders and MLAs.
The party leaders went to Sathi’s residence and led him to the office of the Returning Officer to file his nomination papers. Although leaders and workers from across the state had descended on Moga, but filing of nomination papers was kept a low key affair for the limit on the number of people who can accompany the candidate for filing his nomination papers.
Talking to reporters outside the Mini Secretariat after filing of nomination papers, PCC president Capt Amarinder said that the mood of the people was against the government in general and Joginderpal Jain in particular who had betrayed and let down over sixty thousands people of Moga who had voted for him in the last elections.
Later Capt Amarinder, Jagmeet Brar, Ms Bhattal, Mr Jakhar and others expressed their gratitude to the party workers and leaders who had come to attend the function. They asked him to start working from today in their areas assigned to them. The party leaders expressed confidence that Congress will win this byelection by a record margin.
