Pardeep Luthra, Gurdaspur March 28:- Punjab bandh call which was given against the hanging of Balwant Singh Rajoana, an assassin of former chief minister Punjab Beant singh , passed peaceful except a minor incident of scuffle between both communities at Gurdaspur town.
The tension was mounted between both communities when the protestors forced the shopkeepers to shut down their shutters in Bata chowk here ,who opened their shops while ignoring the band call of radical sikh organizations but a police party led by DSP Manpreet Singh reached at the spot who overpowered the situation and dispersed the agitators from the spot.
The members of a particular community alleged that the protestors also tried to close the doors of houses in some area.
The protestors also smashed the window pains of a Punjab Roadways bus at Rania village in Dhariwal town thisa after noon.
Meanwhile a complete was observed in the Industrial town Batala, Qadian, Sri hargobindpur, Fatehgarh Churian, Dera Baba Nanak and Kalanaur area where all shops, commercial establishments, Industiral units , Educational institutions, ITI’s and polytechnics were remained closed.
The deputy commissioner Gurdaspur Mohinder Singh Kainth when contacted told that no untoward incident was reported from any part of the district as 600 and 1500 odd police personnels were deployed in Gurdaspur and Batala police districts repectively.
