LUDHIANA, 17 Sept, 2009 : A delegation from the Embassy of the United States of America visited Ludhiana here yesterday. The delegation comprised of, among others the second secretary in the embassy Mathew K Bunt and the Assistant Cultural Affairs officer Diane Brandt.
The visit of the team was coordinated by the office of the local MP, Manish Tewari. The team visited different places had thorough interaction with various social, cultural, business and political organizations in the city. The team also visited the Punjab Agricultural University.
Mathew Bunt said, since India and the United States of America enjoy a rich and vibrant relationship built on the foundation of shared values, common goals, and mutual admiration, the embassy officials were visiting different parts of the country to learn about the people and their culture as part of the America Days in India.
It featured a wide range of activities including discussions on climate change, education and the economy in the US with the city’s school and college students and the business and social leaders of the city. They had detailed interactions with the people from different walks of life.
Bunt said, the programme was part of an all India initiative in which the US embassy and the consulate officials from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkatta and Hyderabad travelled to all corners of the country for reaching out to people who may not be able to visit the embassy or the consulates.
The team members visited the Hero Cycles and the Avon Cycles also.The visit was conducted and coordinated by Pawan Dewan, Raman Balasubramniam and Ashok Makkar.
