LUDHIANA, August 8: Ludhiana MP and national spokesperson of the Congress, Manish Tewari today said, India needed dynamic young and educated leaders for launching it on the path of progress and development.
He was addressing a simple but impressive function at the GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar after laying the foundation stone of the digital library there. It is the first digital library in Punjab which would cost about Rs. three crores.
He congratulated the management of the college for this revolutionary measure first of its kind in Punjab. He hoped that this library will provide the right exposure to the students about the new developments and open up new vistas of knowledge for them.
Principal of the college, Dr. Sawaranjit Singh Deol, said, the college has set-up the Central Digital Library in its institution. The establishment of this library has made GHG College, the first of its kind, affiliated with Panjab University to provide this opportunity to its students and staff. The other institutions in which such library exists are either university or Professional Education Institutions.
Dr. Deol attributed the credit of the establishing this digital library to President of College Management Committee Manjit Singh Gill. He said that Gill has taken vital steps for the development of college. It is imperative to mention that this college was established in the year 1948 and the Management Committee of this seventeen faculty college, is also successfully running a Pharmacy College.
Meanwhile, Tewari conducted tour of various villages in the erstwhile Dakha assembly segment. He was among others accompanied by former Minister Malkiat Singh Dakha, former Ludhiana Mayor, Nahar Singh Gill, senior party leader Pawan Dewan, Avtar Singh Mullapuri and others.
Tewari urged people to come forward with their problems as also suggestions. He reiterated that he would always be available to them. He said, he had identified several projects which he could get sanctioned for Ludhiana and it would provide lot of relief and benefits to the people here.
