Pardeep Luthra , Gurdaspur 21 April, 2014: As the temperatures rise and campaign heat soars, thousands of people gather to see, meet and speak to their MP candidate in Gurdaspur Shri Vinod Khanna. Vinod Khanna, a seasoned politician and a veteran Bollywood actor is contesting on a BJP ticket against Congress candidate Shri Pratap Singh Bajwa.
Khanna’s mass appeal is a massive crowd puller. People in the villages and rural areas gather in huge numbers to see Mr Khanna, shake hand with him, speak and share their woes.
Amidst such high intensity campaign, there is also a strong demand from public requesting Mr. Khanna to deliver dialogues from his films.
People cheer and clap as Mr. Khanna obliges & delivers dialogues from his famous movies. The cry for once more, doesn’t stop.
During his campaign trail today in Gurdaspur, Khanna was welcomed with shower of flower and smiles. Public was seen not just on the roads, but also on terraces, stairs, behind window panes and bylanes waiting to catch a glimpse of their favourite leader.
When public demanded that he actions a few of his movie dialogues, a visibly moved Khanna agreed.
With gusto and enthusiasm, he said
“Jabbar singh ne do baten sikhi hai , ek, mauke ka fayda uthana , do, dushmano ka nash karna .
-Bada aadmi badappan se hota hain daulat ya taaqat se nahi
-Bol tere sath kya kiya jaye marr diya jaye ya chod diya jaye
-Chal dekhte hain tere mein kitna dum hain”
An elated crowd cheered, as Khanna waved his way though their hearts.
Khanna’s rural connect has a simple approach. Apart from listing out his manifesto and vision for the area, Mr. Khanna makes appeals that develop an instant connect with the voters.
Speaking to voters in the Kala Nangal area he said, “By Gods grace we have everything required for a decent living. There is no need for us to choose the profession of politics to make money etc.. We are well off; I am in politics only to give back to this country…. to do good to my people.” It is apparent that Mr Khanna’s popularity is beyond his films. A three time MP from the same constituency, Mr. Khanna is fondly remembered for all the development work he has done for the people.
‘Kaho dil naal, Vinod Khanna Thvadey naal,’ is a slogan people chant as his campaign procession moves from village to village.
Mr Khanna campaigned in the Got Pukhar, Kalanour, Sidhwan, Manne & Chopra Village, Dalla Goriya and Bhumbli areas of Gurdaspur today.
