Amritsar : Sumer Singh, Commandant Border Security Force inaugurated a Photo-Exhibition on Bharat Nirman today at Government High School, Gharinda Near Indo-Pak Border in Amritsar Distt. The exhibition highlighting the various government sponsored social welfare and development schemes is being organised by the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) ,Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
While, addressing the gathering, Sumer Singh, Commandant, Border Security Force, appreciated the efforts of the Department in organizing such exhibition in border area. He desired that such type of programmes should also be organised in other border districts, so that the people could know about various development schemes and extract the maximum benefits. He further said that the Local Panchayats must know about various Social Welfare Schemes to take maximum advantage out of it. He said “The exhibition is very effective medium to disseminate the message among masses at grass root level. The people should know about their rights”. He appreciated the Government effort to give free of cost legal advice to below Poverty Line families.
Earlier while welcoming the Chief Guest Sh. Hakam Singh, Field Exhibition Officer, appraised the dignitaries and the visiting people about the aims and objectives of the Photo Exhibition organised by the DAVP. He informed that the photo-exhibition aimed to generate awareness among the local people in and around Indo-Pak Border Area about various schemes which includes Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Mid Day Meal (MDM) Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Right to Information Act (RTI), Right to Education (RTE), Rural Water Supply, rural telecommunication. He said that the various programmes will be organised at different villagers to generate to awareness among general public regarding these welfare schemes. During these days all media units of ministry of information and broadcasting including Press Information Bureau (PIB), Doordarshan, All India Radio, Song and Drama division, Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP) will participate.
On this occasion, Directorate of Field Publicity and DAVP honoured the School Students who participated in Debate and Declamation Contest on Female Foeticide.
A large number of people and students from various villages thronged the venue and showed keen interest in the Photo Exhibition. Local Sarpanchas, Principal Sharanjit Kaur, R.K. Shukla from DAVP, Pankaj Sharma from Department of Education, Government of Punjab, Kavish Dutt from DFP also graced the occasion.
