17 Nov :Christian High School, Noklak celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 29th October 2008 with Minister for Urban Development and Higher Education Shürhozelie Liezietsu as the chief guest. He also unveiled the Jubilee monolith.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the people of eastern Nagaland for making considerable progress in the field of education, within a short span of time even though education came late to the area. He reminded teachers of the area that their duty is heavier than that of their counterparts in advanced areas as most of the parents are illiterate. The responsibility to even play the role of parents lies with the teachers, he said, adding that they leave to translate the dreams of thousands into reality.
Shürhozelie said that the present Naga society is concentrating more on quality education. He said that many schools have been created by the government to fulfill the demands of the people. He lamented that imparting of quality education still lags behind in the state, and such complacency has no room in this era of competition, he added. He urged the local leaders to support the schools to impart quality education to the youngsters.
The Minister advised the school authorities that mere celebration of the jubilee is not enough but it should be the starting point of planning new things with new initiatives and new vigour to make further progress in the days to come. He also donated Rupees one lakh to CHS, Noklak.
