Bhopal : The state government is considering to hold a Mahapanchayat of bidi workers in coming days. This was informed by Labour Minister Shri Antar Singh Arya while chairing a meeting of cabinet sub-committee for solving bidi workers problems here today. finance, Commercial Taxes and Planning Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya, Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, Minister of State for Public Health & Family Welfare Shri Sharad Jain and Principal Secretary Labour Shri Muktesh Varshney were present on the occasion.
The meeting held detailed discussions on revision of bidi workers minimum wages. Another meeting in this regard will be held next week. Members of the cabinet sub-committee, representative of bidi workers from Sagar, Damoh and Jabalpur, representatives of government’s Welfare and Cess Office, Jabalpur and officers of Labour Department will participate in it.
Demand to increase housing grant upto Rs. 1.50 lakh
The sub-committee also decided to recommend that Central government’s Demand to increase housing grant of bidi workers from Rs. 40 thousand to Rs. 1.50 lakh. Discussions were held on other schemes for bidi workers welfare and increase in amounts of group insurance and other schemes at the meeting.
