The buildings of the Anganwadi Centres selected under Atal Bal Arogya Evam Poshan Mission in Madhya Pradesh will be developed into Model Anganwadis (Anganwadi Nursery Schools) as per Build As Leaning Aid (BALA) scheme. The State Government has allocated Rs. 10 thousand each for 25 Anganwadi Centres in every district for wall paining and re-decoration. Out of this, Rs. 9100 will be spent on strengthening the Anganwadi building and Rs. 900 on picture books and posters.Cooperation of people and public representatives will also be sought for development of Anganwadi centres. After being well-equipped, these anganwadi centres will attract more beneficiaries. The Woman and Child Development Department has asked Woman and Child Development Officers to ensure cent per cent utilisation of the allocated funds in the first quarter of the fiscal year itself.
The Government had asked district collectors and other officers to identify such Anganwadis, which had not been provided funds for BALA activities during the year 2009-10 and 2010-11 under Sarvshiksha Abhiyan, departmental head, UNICEF or any other help. It has also been made mandatory that the Anganwadi building must be Government property.
After becoming Model Anganwadi Centre, the Anganwadi will conduct BALA activities including attractive display board of the Anganwadi’s name, painting of various activities on the interior walls to attract children’s attention leading to increase in their knowledge. Running black/green board/chalk board will be made available inside the room. The running board will be constructed at the lower portion of the wall so that children can write on it easily. The interior portion will be decorated with cutouts of one to ten numbers, letters, pictures of trees, fruits, vegetables, animals, birds etc, round, triangular and square shapes and pictures relating to some story.
Seats and activity tables will also be made available to children. Instructions have been issued to provide educational and sports kits to the Anganwadi centres. The material to be purchased to teaching-learning will include building blocks, shapes and towers, material for assembling toys, threading-board, pear beads, wire and thread, dolls, kitchen set, wheeled toys etc. Cooperation of BALA-trained engineers can also be sought in the development of Model Anganwadi buildings.
