Bhopal:Thursday, August 14, 2008:Van Vihar National Park will organise a training programme for students and teachers of schools and colleges and members of voluntary, government and non-government organisations. This programme has been chalked out with the help of various organisations for spreading knowledge and awareness about environment.
It may be mentioned that Van Vihar has been active in the field of environmental education since long and various organisations have been contributing their mite in this goal from time to time. Besides, a Wildlife Protection Week is also observed in the first week of October every year as part of special efforts to spread environmental awareness.
As per information given by Conservator of Forests and Director, Van Vihar National Park, students and teachers of schools and colleges and members of voluntary, government and non-government organisations can take part in this programme. The special training would be imparted from 9 am to 1 pm daily from Monday to Thursday except government holidays. The trainees would be given free entry into Van Vihar. A batch would comprise maximum 40 trainees. One-day training is proposed for one kind of activity. The organisations bringing the trainees would have to make their own arrangements for meals/refreshment and transport.
First of all, head of an organisation would have to select an activity for training and then apply in writing at least seven days before the proposed training date to Conservator of Forests and Director, Van Vihar National Park, Bhadbhada Road, Bhopal. The categories about which environmental awareness training would be imparted include mammals, serpentines, birds and butterflies. The subjects to be covered include management of animals in free atmosphere, captive management in zoos and tourism management, behaviour of wild animals, management in national parks/ sanctuaries and eco tourism etc.
The training would be imparted through tour of Van Vihar, film shows, bird watching camps, demonstrations, wildlife literature and lecture series.
