Bhopal:Monday, August 18, 2008:Five sloth bears have reached Van Vihar National Park. These bears including three males and females were rescued from madaris in Nasik, Maharashtra. With this the number of bears in Van Vihar has gone up to 37 including 21 males and 16 females.
According to Conservator of Forests and Director Van Vihar, these bears have been housed in isolation for next 90 days. During their stay in quarantine, they would be de-wormed and vaccinated against rabies and leptospirosis.
After the quarantine period, these bears would be released in Van Vihar Rescue Centre in the company of other rescued bears. Two of these bears are wounded and being treated.
