Bhopal:Sunday, February 7 : Tribal Welfare Department has incepted three national level and one state level awards to commemorate tribal society’s self-respect, leaders and martyrs with a view to publicising tribal people’s traditions, arts, skills and creative contributions. Entries for these awards have been invited for the year 2010 by February 20. Besides, an expert of the subject can also make recommendation for the name of someone for the award.
Rani Durgavati national award is given to a tribal woman who does commendable work in the field of creative arts and craft, social service, administration etc. Shankar Shah-Raghunath Shah award is given for the people working in tribal arts arena and who have been writing on tribal life’s creative beauty, traditions and specialities. Thakkar Bapa Samman is given to people serving the tribal people. All the national awards carry Rs 2 lakh and a citation each. Entries for these awards are invited at the national level.
Tribal Welfare Department has also incepted Jananayak Tantya Bhil State Level Award for the persons putting in excellent services in the arenas of education and sports. For this award entries are invited at the state level.
