Bhopal: Tuesday, January 4 : Better results have been yielded after declaration of 2010-11 as the Family Planning Year and the Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan giving top priority to it. It has been possible for the first time in 21 years that 3 lakh 72 thousand people have adopted family planning programme in just 9 month while three months of the current fiscal are still left. It may be mentioned that in the last year only four lakh people have adopted family planning programme. Meanwhile, the state government has announced to give prizes to the field staff as incentive against excellence services.
Giving this information, Minister of State for Public Health, Family Planning, Medical Education and AYUSH Shri Mahendra Hardia said that the state government has chalked out a well planned strategy for effective implementation of population control programme by creating mass awareness. The fresh results of the programme shows that people’s interest in family planning has increased. As many as three lakh 72 thousand persons have taken the benefit of family planning programme between April 1, 2010 and December 2010, which is 50 per cent more than the target. Such good results have been registered for the first time after 10980-81.
The good results of family planning programme have been achieved through the strong will of the state government in this connection. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan had appointed former Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadau, Padmashri T.V. Antony, as the advisor for family planning programme with a view to giving a fillip to the programmes since Shri Antony is an expert in the sector. The state government had also announced a reward scheme for the field and government hospital staff as well as NGOs for putting in excellent services.
As per the reward policy, Rs one lakh each will be given to divisional commissioner and divisional joint director for achieving 100 per cent success. Three prizes carrying Rs one lakh Rs 50 thousand and Rs 25 thousand have been announced at the district level. Three district level awards have also been declared for Chief Health and Medical Officers for excellence in organising family planning camps. Awards of Rs one lakh, Rs 50 thousand and Rs 25 thousand have also been announced for hospital-based excellent family planning programme. One surgeons’ team of the districts in each division will also get Rs one lakh, Rs 50 thousand and Rs 25 thousand prizes. The total sum of the prizes amounts to about Rs 1.25 crore.
