National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) activists today held a strong protest against the state govt. for its complete disregard for Dogra Culture, language and Heritage. The students who assembled outside the University gate in the morning raised anti govt. slogans and torched the effigy of BJP-PDP coalition.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Thakur Virender Singh President NPSU flayed the govt. for its failure to develop GGM Science college and Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary school as Heritage institutions despite their process having been initiated in 2005. He said that the govt. was still making statements in the media without taking any action to translate the promises into reality. He further condemned the govt. for its tall slogans for development of Mubarak Mandi as Heritage site without being followed by any concrete action plan. He further flayed the govt. indifference towards the Cable Car Project from Mubarak Mandi to Baghe – Bahu and Mahamaya.
Thakur Virender Singh further lambasted the BJP leaders for their failure to promote Dogri and ensure its introduction in the syllabus at school level. He said that whereas the govt. had initiated vigorous campaigns for promotion of Kashmiri language, Dogri was still being neglected. He reminded BJP of the announcement made by Narendra Modi during Samba rally at the time of elections that Dogri language and Dogra warriors would receive due recognition and acknowledgment but nothing of the sort happened. He further sought declaration of Maharaja Hari Singh birthday as a public holiday.
Others who were present on the occasion included Sh. Rishi Badyal, Mr. Lovely Singh, Mr. Shubam Jasrotia, Sumit Jamwal, Sudesh Badyal, Ajit Singh, Karanjit Singh, Shubam Singh Chib, Kalash Mohan etc.
